While Issa Rae is waiting for the release of her hit show ‘Insecure’ in Auguest, she has managed to become the face of Cover Girl’s newest “I Am What I Makeup” campaign from Droga5. The video above “Shade for Shade” features not just Rae but also her real-life best friends Megan Lawson, Abenet McMullen and Devin Walker on their way to a girls’ night out in downtown Los Angeles.
The of Covergirl global CMO Ukonwa spoke to Fast Company and said “We want to show what it’s like getting ready in the car to go out,” says Ojo. “We asked her if she’d like to do it, and Issa and her girlfriends loved the idea. We shot this thing, and they’re acting like they would act, and that context is so important, real, and inspiring. It’s also attainable. These are real women, and if they can do it, so can you.”
